"The Kindermusik curricula is unsurpassed in
that utilizes music as a bridge to learning in all cognitive
domains," says MzzB. "With the Kindermusik learning
curricula and my personal passion for learning, it is my ultimate
goal for our young learners to master the thinking, learning and
inhibitory skills essential to becoming confident, successful, and
eager learners throughout their lives. At PP we purpose to encourage
a love of music and to prepare children so they will approach school
and life with an attitude of 'Teach me – I'm ready to learn!'
After years of working closely with moms, dads and often
grandparents, we have watched our students' minds and hearts grow
and truly soar! What an honor and privilege to be an active part in
empowering lives for today and influencing all of their
tomorrows."
Erin
Cox
Licensed Kindermusik
Educator
"Kindermusik has been a boon to the
development of my children, both musically and socially.
I have seen them move from timid observers to enthusiastic,
engaged learners and lovers of music.
They have learned such essential school readiness skills as
listening, sharing, self-control, cooperation, and respect.
And, they have just plain had fun!
I am eager to join the teaching staff of Purple Possibilities
studio, so that I might pass on the truly magical world of
Kindermusik to a community of new parents.
Join me in being purposeful about connecting with your
precious child in this nurturing learning
environment. Come to a
Village class and watch your baby blossom into a musical child!"
Erin Cox has a passion for partnering with
parents/grandparents and their child(ren) in an effort to strengthen
relationships and nurture purposeful learning using the powerful
medium of music. As a mother of three young children, Erin
first experienced the magic of the Kindermusik curricula as a
parent. After witnessing her own children’s development and zeal
for learning, it was not long before she was inspired to become a
Kindermusik Educator herself. “The joy of empowering
parents/caregivers to actively engage their child’s learning
potential using Kindermusik’s rich curriculum is incomparable!
I consider it a privilege to share this treasure with so many
precious children and those who love them!”
Lydia Bassett
Studio Music Instructor
For the last six years Lydia has been a music
instructor at her family's music studio, Purple Possibilities. From
the age of twelve Lydia has been working with very young children
inspiring them with a love of music, as well as being a role model
of a godly young lady in service. She has taught children ages two
through thirteen to play the violin, harp and viola. She is the
director and conductor of her student ensembles; The Tadpole Stringz
class, The Toad'ly Tuned Stringz and The Klassical Kidz Orkestra.
This music ministry to young families has been a labor of love for
Lydia and her family. Lydia has also served in her church through
musical presentations, wedding performances and teaching VBS.
In 2006 Lydia was 4th chair in the 1st violin
section of the Roanoke Youth symphony, and a member of the Roanoke
Youth Harp Ensemble. In 2007 Lydia was awarded the largest Laban
Johnson Arts scholarship for her showing of excellence in musical
arts. In May 2008. Lydia won 2nd place in the Virginia's teachers
association Concerto Competition on violin performing Vieuxtemps
Concerto #4, 3rd movement. In November 2008 Lydia won 3rd place at
the Sonata Festival for her outstanding performance of the
Vieuxtemps Concerto #4. In December 2008 Lydia was co-principle 2nd
violin in Radford's University's four professional performances of
Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. For the last four years she has been the
only high school student performing with the professional chamber
orchestra Viva Vivaldi. This summer Lydia (and Adrienne) will be
recording with the Viva Vivaldi Chamber Orchestra on a major record
label.
Next year, Lydia will continue teaching at her
family's music studio while taking chamber music and theory classes.
She will also continue studying with Benedict Goodfriend while
auditioning for well-known teachers at major colleges and
conservatories of her violin instructor's choice striving to obtain
a scholarship. Lydia plans to go on to pursue a performance major on
violin, and will continue to develop her music teaching skills.
"From a very young age I have been aware
that God has blessed me with a love of music, and that I was called
to serve Him with my musical talents. I have been privileged to
study violin at a pre-college and college level with violinist
Benedict Goodfriend of the Kandinsky Trio throughout my high school
years. Since the age of fourteen I have had the honor of performing
with Mr. Goodfriend and the professional Chamber Orchestra, Viva
Vivaldi. I have learned to work with children and adults through six
years as instrumental instructor at our family's music studio. I am
grateful for the opportunity to be able to share my love of music
with others. This ministry has added a great deal to my character.
While a young person, in a position of God-given authority, I have
learned first hand how to handle large amounts of pressure and
responsibility, and how to interact with and to teach parents to
support their children's music education in a respectful way.
Through my love of music paired with a love of children, I have
learned every bit as much from my students as I have taught
them."
